Research:
I am a biostatistician, which means I am involved in the design, implementation, management, and analysis of studies of disease occurrence in human populations. I am particularly interested in all aspects prognostic modeling, the prediction of future disease based on present characteristics. I am presently examining whether the ability to predict disease is universal. That is, whether a single prognostic model is applicable in diverse groups. This interest bridges several fields including computer-intensive data analysis, meta-analysis, epidemiology, and medicine; and motivated the establishment of the Diverse Population Collaboration, a database of 27 observational studies involving followup of almost 400,000 people.
